The Cultural Troupe conducted an Induction Programme , better known as the “Freshers’ Week“, from 27th September to 2nd October for the batch of 2021-2026. Besides, it is a fun way of meeting new people, learning new things, and experiencing the long-awaited college life.
27/09 Detox 2.0
The Troupe conducted an event – Detox for the very first time during Freshers’ Week. The event was an icebreaker session for the latest batch where the Freshers were given a glimpse of their life on campus, their journey as law students, and the adventures that await them. The freshers were introduced to the various cultural clubs at SLSH and the exciting world these clubs encapsulate. The whole conversation was filled with fun and cheer. The introductory session conducted for the Freshers helped them know their peers and seniors. Students also shared their experiences as to why they chose law as a career.
Further, the discussion also included the placement and internship opportunities provided by the institution. While they were ensured that academics were the priority, they were also informed that a law school is a place where they can enjoy everyday to the fullest. The event aimed at easing all the uncertainties about academics and college life, especially after the pandemic’s toll on all of us. The event was filled with laughter where the seniors shared their experiences about their life on campus and how they navigated law school. Conclusively the whole event was a success.
29/09 Talent Hunt
Every individual requires a fair platform to portray their true selves, who they are beyond just academics, and there is nothing better than a Talent Hunt to do so. The Hunt allowed the students to showcase their talents, making it a fun and non-judgmental space for them. The Hunt received overwhelming participation from students, and to make the session more engaging, the photos and videos sent by them were streamed on Google Meet. The event’s purpose was well served, and the students thoroughly enjoyed participating and expressing themselves.
28/09 Quizpicable Me!
What’s a celebration without movies? The next event for the week was a Movie Quiz which was hosted in association with the Movie Club of SLSH, Cinemafia. This was yet another light-hearted event that made the freshers feel welcome and comfortable.
Since the pandemic, seeing how communication between people has reduced, films have become a common ground for people to bond over. Movies and web series have become a part of inside jokes and references among many students. This was further proved by the students’ enthusiastic participation, with over 80 of them taking part in the quiz. To make the event exciting, the students were quizzed about the various aspects of the film industry and included questions about actors, storylines, essential plot twists and character references to name a few. The questions asked were not just limited to multiple choices but also included filling in the blanks and identifying movie characters or places. The quiz had two rounds, with the winners of the first round moving on to the second round where they were given only 15 seconds to correctly answer each question!
30/09 Dance Workshop
Following that event, the dance club of SLSH, Vilakshan, interacted with the freshers batch. The senior members spoke about the club’s passion for dancing. They talked about their experiences with the club and how it gives countless opportunities to students who wish to perform at various events. The newcomers, enthusiastic about such a cultural club, expressed their levels of training and proficiency in various dance forms. To welcome them, the dance club organized a workshop which consisted of a short choreography session hosted by a senior member of the dance club, Sudhanshu Chaudhry, which they thoroughly enjoyed. The workshop allowed the freshers to interact with seniors having similar interests and goals. This gave them respite from the strenuous admission process and helped them feel more at home. The workshop facilitated the interaction of different dancers of the freshers batch and exposed them to what the dance club has to offer.
Each event and celebration is known to be special in its own way because of the memories it creates for every individual. So, what’s a fantastic event other than photography to conclude the fresher’s week? Photos allow us to capture and relive moments that we cherish, and with that intention in mind.On the 1st of October, the Troupe organized an extraordinary event on photography. The event focused on portraying the demanding and skill-driven art of mobile photography. The students had a fun, and casual conversation with our esteemed alumni, Faaiz Irfan. He spoke about the intricate nuances of mastering the skill of mobile photography and being able to curate an attractive and eye-catching Instagram page. He also gave a glimpse of how beautiful our campus is by sharing some breath-taking and perfectly- timed pictures of the campus.
